Adam-CreatureFeature.jpg

I'm Adam Koot-Bascomb, born and bred in Boston, living in LA, and I do everything and anything that pertains to designing, drawing, and physically building creepy characters and creatures of an inhuman persuasion.  In other words, I make MONSTERS! I've been drawing them since time immemorial, started building them in college, and now in addition to concept art I do everything from sewing to sculpting and even wearing them. I've also had some of my costume work on a few Halloween Specials on Freeform! As long as I get to see my nightmarish babies moving and breathing by the end of a project, be it on screen or in person, that's more than enough to keep me making more!

Oliver-CreatureFeature.jpg

As someone who was raised in an artistic household, my whole life has been about the arts. I grew up in my moms studio, and have been creating ever since I could fingerpaint! My passions lie in several areas, concentrating in creature design, character design, and illustration for visual development. I'm strong in traditional media as well as digital, but really as long as I'm creating, I am happy! My enthusiasm never runs dry, and I adore meeting and working with other creatives, as well as bringing others ideas to life.

Pablo-CreatureFeature.jpg

I first learned to draw by tracing the art of old paleoart masters from dinosaur guides, and being honest, most of my motivation with art has come from wanting to improve at doing my own takes on prehistoric life. After high school, I first studied in a mentorship program in San Diego with Vanessa and Ron Lemen, and then majored in Animation/Illustration at San Jose State University. Since then, I've been incredibly lucky to have found my way to a career in animation, where I currently work full time as a Visual Development artist at Paramount Pictures. In my free time, I'm finding that coming back to paleoart helps me keep my passion for painting alive outside of work, and someday I hope to pursue my own creative projects!
